Never say this to an artist enlists all that you might say which may annoy an artist. Art is anything except ordinary. But doesn’t beauty lie in the eyes of the beholder? We have learnt in our growing years, not to voice our opinions at all times.
It’s exciting to watch talented artists, especially on social media. They motivate and inspire you in innumerable ways. Creators of art are gifted and skillful. They have accomplished the expertise all with their hard-work, practice and dedication. Even a naturally gifted artist requires constant efforts to remain a master of art. Best of all, they can teach you about all the things you were getting wrong when you are a beginner. They’re extremely helpful and generous enough to help you at all times.
But spontaneous and inconsiderate remarks, may get you to the irky side of an artist.
Scroll down to all that you must never say
Anyone can do Modern Art
It must have happened innumerable times that you see a Modern or contemporary art piece and say, “Oh! my kid could do that.”My response-“Sure, you can get the little one to do it and frame it on your wall.”
I didn’t get that, it’s silly!
“Kindly work on your imaginative skills.”We can blame this to our lack of art education. The lack of perception and critical thought are all attributes to such a comment. We truly know it isn’t as easy as it first looks. My only argument, are you imaginative enough?I’ll give you another similar one
Can you please explain this art to me
“No, I don’t have to, next!” Artists look out for people who acknowledge and appreciate. They don’t need to give explanations.
What’s your Real Job
“Do I really have to tell you that?” Being an artist since ancient times is a difficult job. Making a living out of making art is hard to do. There are several limitations. But curbs and restrictions are important tools in the creative process. These challenges motivate and inspire you to new horizons. Remember, it isn’t just a job, it’s their passion.
It will be a grand exposure, if you could do it for free
“I am assuming you do your professional tasks for free.”It is a real job for an artist, it’s how they pay for their living. Do not take their talent and hard-work for granted. They need to be paid handsomely for their creation. You need their art work probably, so do not lure them for your benefits please.
Is it a 3D Print
“No, it’s my persistent hard work.” It takes several years to develop those art skills to become a successful artist. Even if the artist is extremely talented, practice and dedication are truly the only ways to become better at art.
That’s too Pricey
“Do you offer any discounts?” My response-“No, I don’t want to.” Do you ever settle the price when you deal with an architect or an accountant? Please do not bargain on a piece of art. The aesthetic beauty has appealed to your senses. Do not disregard the creator.
You must be having expensive equipment to do that
“Well, if I give you all the expensive things, will you create this?” Please, learn to appreciate the talent, the beauty of the art with which you are fascinated. All the expensive supplies, equipment and paraphernalia will be of no use if you don’t know how to use it.
Is it finished?
“Yes, I want it this way, it’s my work of art! I don’t want to know how you want me to complete it.” Do not judge, you do not have to tell an artist what needs to be done to complete his/her work of art.
I love that frame
“Oh! that’s nice, the frame is included in the price”
It must be nice not to have a Regular job
“Unlike my profession, art is so relaxing, I can easily do it the whole day.” My response-“Try doing it for 20 minutes!”. Creating art is an actual job, harder than your regular one where you get precise and clear instructions. You have to be a keen observer, perceptor, creator, promoter and seller…all at the same time!
Never say this to an artist reminds you of all that you might recklessly say to an artist that will not go in good spirit, so beware from saying so!
That’s all, thankyou.
